Irvine Cottages - Services & Ammenities
Irvine Cottages' caring approach starts from the heart. We are dedicated to serve and care for each resident as a family member. That means kind, loving and professional care in a warm and comfortable home. Every detail of our care, the staff, our homes, the food, medication supervision, activities and more is based on this caring approach.
Most professionals agree that memory impaired individuals and medically frail individuals function better when they live in smaller surroundings with a familiar group of people. As a result, we refuse to have any 'home-like' facilities. We have real homes, just like the ones our residents have lived in during their entire lives. Our beautiful homes are spacious and have a maximum of 6 residents and at least two daily caregivers. All care is coordinated and supervised by our Nurse Administrators. This allows residents to remain in our caring homes and avoid institutional settings altogether. We provide superior care to assure our residents the highest quality of life and to provide their families peace of mind. For example, we are one of the only dementia care facilities to group our residents according to their cognition level. A mild patient generally reacts poorly when grouped with a late stage patient. Grouping them together also gives the residents socialization and "family like interaction" on a daily basis.
Irvine Cottages is dedicated to serving seniors that are suffering with Alzheimer's disease, stroke and other difficult medical conditions. We provide a quality of care well above the expected standards.
We have 11 intimate homes located in Irvine and Mission Viejo. Our staff is dedicated to developing the highest professional standards in residential care for the elderly. In everything we do one question is always on our minds: "How do we make life comfortable, safe and enjoyable for those whose care has been entrusted to us?"
Pet therapy
The Cottages place a special emphasis on pets and their calming benifits. The benifit to having a loving, calming dog is wonderful. Lap dogs or large dogs work. All residents are encouraged to bring their special loved one to the cottages to live or visit. We allow: birds, cats, dogs and even bunnies. Some of our cottages have house pets such as dogs or cats. Although due to alergies some homes will not have pets and just have visiting cats and dogs.
Family communication - the key to the Cottages!
Aileen Sherman, our family services coordinator is always there to help you out. Families find her advice valuable. From her tour to many phone calls for a smooth transition, you can always count on her to give a helping hand or just listen to you. All concerns in regard to care or family dynamics are voiced to Aileen. Why is she so good at this? She has taken care of her mother who passed away from Alzheimer's Disease and her father and mother in law who also passed away from dementia. Her experience and kindness make her a excellent communicator to families and residents. Feel free to give her a call: 714 349-9388.
